How to use information gain for ecommerce brand?

Here you have mentioned about finance and B2B industry, but ecommerce works in a different way. People are more aligned towards a specific brand, than top rank brand. Even if brand A is ranking on 1st and brand B on 3rd position, there's a big chance that people click on brand B due to it's reputation.

And if we talk about category page content, most of the brands just write 1000 word article at the bottom even though it makes no sense. So is there any good brand that is doing their category page content well from user POV and still crushing their SEO?

I think Wayfair is doing a great job. At the end of the day, information gain is about adding new information to what’s already out there. You can do that in ecom as well :)

Thank you 😊 I'll check that site

Someone needs to build a research or knowledge base platform, where creators and experts will write about various stuff. The platform can either focus on a specific niche or consolidate various topics under one place. Moreover, the creators will update previous content instead of publishing and spamming users (it is outrageous for a YouTube channel or newsletter blog to have more than 1000 videos/newsletter issues!).

The platform can contain all the details but newsletter issues can act as a notification or summarization of new content being added or updated within the knowledge base. The platform will include actionable playbooks and a community that its users can access. Curation is something that we need to work on, especially in the world of AI. Does that seem impossible?

You mean, like Wikipedia?

Yeah! But with actionable content. Wikipedia doesn't show plenty of information about each industry. For example, Bismark Analysis does this kind of research on a newsletter format and could instead host a "content/knowledge curated platform" that would be accessible via SEO while posting newsletters as notifications for new content.

Honestly, I can read another blog post about "The 5 best automation tools you should use", we need something more concrete and qualitative. Referencing case studies and templates.

I hear ya. I'm curious what the problem is you're trying to solve, if you had to bring it to a simple point?

I am aiming to solve the problem of information overload and lack of actionable, high-quality content. There's an abundance of shallow content (like "top 5 tools" lists) but a shortage of comprehensive, well-curated resources that provide deep insights and practical guidance for people to make informed decisions and take real action.

I think that's a very important problem to solve. Hope you're successful!

I appreciate your endorsement! You are already a step ahead by including references at the bottom of every issue you post 🙌
