It’s exciting to see that referral traffic from ChatGPT is not just growing but also showing higher engagement. I’m particularly intrigued by how AI chatbots drive longer session durations compared to Google. This truly feels like an untapped opportunity for brands to boost their online presence in unique ways. Such a great article, Kevin.
Your point on eCom, I wrote about this a few weeks back. In the current interface I can’t see how eCom takes off in the Chat Engines (GPT/perplexity) for the non-low intent products (low intent that you’d just go to Amazon for anyway). Eg searchers need a variety of options to browse through - otherwise it’s not shopping it’s just product recommendations which is a very different intent. Have you seen anything interesting they’re doing on this front? Side note, I don’t think the timing of the launch of the new google shopping is a coincidence, wouldn’t be surprised if Google starts trying to make that a destination in itself eg maps/images etc as it’s a huge usp atm vs the chat engines
agreed, chat engines are not a place where you discover new products, unless you have an idea of what you're looking for. I think social media is the best place for that.

Thank you!
I like how this is structured. Thanks for bringing clarity and visibility to this new corner of organic growth.
